Awaken – Learning Pod

Awaken Learning Pod offers the perfect environment for kids to explore, create and flourish.

Awaken Learning Pod is more than just a daycare, it is a holistic child-led learning Centre with a focus on nourishing the whole child. Our small class size (maximum 5 students) aims to cultivate individual interests as well as help your child connect with other children their age and another nurturing adult.

We allow for ample outdoor time, in all weather, on our 14 acre property in the Oak Ridges Moraine. We teach the children about seasonal cycles, life cycles of plants, enable them to recognize and name the local flora and fauna, and let them hike and explore.

Each day, the children play in the Yoga studio to learn physical awareness with such activities as obstacle courses, cartwheels & handstands, yoga, breathing exercises and other tools for self regulation. We teach them rhythm and music using instruments, singing, dancing with ribbons and games.

The children get dirty, muddy, messy and learn through hands-on experience using a variety of tactile mediums and engaging activities. Though we do teach the important skills of math, science, writing, reading, gross motor and fine motor skills, we do so with fun activities rather than in a school setting so kids associate learning with fun.

The Learning Pod is closed for the winter and will reopen after March Break, on March 20th, 2023.

Hours are 9am – 3pm. Potential for before & after care.

Please bring a zero waste, peanut-free lunch and snacks, as well as a water bottle. We have reverse osmosis well water on site to refill the bottle.

Dress your child for all weather, with layers and an extra set of clothing in their backpack.
